Walt Whitman’s signed copy of The Essays of Abraham Cowley, New York: Scribner, Welford, and Co, 1869.
This small volume is inscribed on the preliminary title page: “presented to E E Reed by Walt Whitman / Sept: 23 ‘86.” On the free fly leaf adjacent, the following comments appear: “The marks in this book were made by Walt Whitman.” Whitman has also signed “Walt Whitman” at the head of the title page. This book is of interest coming from Whitman’s library.
