Whitman Caricature by Richard Shugg

This caricature of Whitman appeared in the Fifth Avenue Journal, which was published every Wednesday in New York City for a brief period during the 1870s. This adaption from the original was issued in 100 copies as a holiday greeting by Alfred F. Goldsmith who was a book seller and co-author with Carolyn Wells of a 1922 Whitman bibliography.
