Helen Corbitt
Chef and author Helen Corbitt joined Neiman Marcus in 1955 as food director of the Zodiac Room restaurant designed by Eleanor LeMaire in the downtown store. Texas was a bleak culinary landscape then of canned vegetables and fruit cocktail. Soon after her arrival at the Zodiac Room, it was packed to capacity and drew international attention. Stanley Marcus said, “I called her ‘my wild Irish genius’ in recognition of her uncontrollability…and her sheer genius in the field of food.” Corbitt worked at Neiman Marcus 1955-1969.
