Description

Although this ambrotype is not identified, circumstantial evidence suggests that it is a portrait of Victor Prosper Considerant (1808-1893), the French founder of La Reunion colony near Dallas. This is an interesting horizontal portrait in which Considerant is seated off center in the picture frame, his elbow propped on a stack of books and hand on the side of his head. Source: Lawrence T.
