The platform spells this out in more detail, and a map of the country, showing "Blaine's Idea," hits the main issues: "Public Lands for actual settlers; protection to American industries; no tribute to England for American fish; capital not controversy for the South; American citizens must be protected at home and abroad; no competition with Coolie labor; increased commercial intercouse with friendly neighboring states; Monroe Doctrine, Hands off! Isthmus of Panama."
