This songster is written in black ink in an unidentified hand, likely in New England. It includes texts of a host of songs, poems, and speeches, sometimes attributed to the authors, sometimes not. It illustrates how such texts were interwoven into daily life at the time, first as performances for public occasions and then as written down for private memory, reflection, and re-use.
