Subject
Thomas Hardy and the Hardy community
Description
William Morgan was a Hardy Scholar who published essays and reviews over Hardy’s poetry and Hardy criticism from the early 1970’s to the early 2000’s. This small collection consists of several magazines where Hardy’s poetry was published in the nineteen-teens and twenties. The majority of ephemera comes from various Thomas Hardy festivals and include nine rolls of microfilm with facsimile handwritten manuscripts of Hardy. This collection also has one of the twelve lithograph posters from Hardy’s 1914 play “The Dynasts”, signed by Hardy. The Morgan collection also includes published scholarly articles written by Morgan. The images in this digital collection provide a sampling of the items in the full collection.
